Mimosa holiday cottage, opened in July 2020, is nestled next to the owners’ property dating back to 1897, it has been completely renovated, yet maintained many of the original Victorian features and character of the property.
It is situated on a level street directly opposite the Dawlish Museum home of the famous D-day landing bagpipes. From the cottage take a 5 minute stroll by The Brook into the bustling town of Dawlish, where there are many locally run shops, cafes, eateries and pubs. Walk by the Dawlish Waterfowl bird enclosure and see the famous black swans. The Manor gardens are a short picturesque walk with a small play park for those with younger children a stone’s throw away from the cottage.
It is a 10 minute walk from Mimosa cottage to the towns sandy beach perfect for a family day out -building sandcastles, taking a dip in the sea, enjoying the crazy golf, amusements and an ice cream on the sea front, where you will also find the picturesque railway line. A further 5 minute meander along the sea wall down towards Coryton cove past the beach huts you will find a more secluded beach and at low tide rock pools reveal themselves to be explored.
There are many local attractions nearby for all ages. The cottage is a central location to explore South Devon. Exeter is 20 minutes away by car or train, with its museums shops and cathedral, Teignmouth 10 minutes away has its seaside heritage and pier and arcade games , slightly further away are Paignton zoo, Crealy /Woodlanders for those who like theme parks and thrilling rides. Keen birdwatchers should head to Dawlish Warren where many rare species can be seen darting through sand dunes, in the estuary and out to sea. A great way to experience the local area is by heading along the Exe Estuary Footpath to Dawlish Warren, Starcross, Exeter and all around the Exe Estuary to Exmouth via Topsham. Other highlights include Newton Abbot, Dartmoor, nearby Powderham Castle, Starcross ferry, or local boat trips and estuary cruises.

On entry you are greeted by a light, bright hallway leading up 3 steps to a large open plan living space with a modern feel. The L -shaped kitchen is well equipped with a BECKO electric oven/hob, fridge with freezer compartment, microwave, kettle and toaster, perfect for all your catering needs.
The lounge area has a comfy 4 seater sofa and a 2 seater snuggle armchair with a 42 inch Smart TV and DVD player. The bookshelf has some classics on to enjoy and a selection of games in case of a rare rainy day during your stay. The cottage has gas central heating through-out for those chilly winter nights.
The French doors lead to a private south facing courtyard with patio furniture seating for four. It is a perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee, reading the paper, while planning your holiday sightseeing activities for the day ahead, or reflecting on the day, writing postcards whilst dining al fresco on those warm summer evenings enjoying a glass of your favourite tipple!
Heading up the stairs there are two beautiful bedrooms both with original feature fire places. The spacious master bedroom has a comfy king-size bed, fitted wardrobe and TV; it enjoys views over the courtyard. The second bedroom has two single beds. On this floor you will also find the bathroom with a bath, sink, WC and separate shower cubicle. All bed linen and towels are included in the price.
There is free parking on the street when available or alternatively a weekly ticket and can be purchased from Barton car park, which is directly opposite the cottage and costs £24.30. This ticket can be used in other Teignbridge car parks throughout your stay.
